Clue, 4th Ending

by crazyskills on Jun.24, 2009, under announcement, stream of consciousness

A fourth scenario was scripted and filmed, but was very different from the comedic nature of the main plot and has never been released. It survives only in the original novelization of the film, with a single photograph.2 [imdb.com]

Wadsworth, after pretending to be dead, says that he killed Boddy, and then reveals to the guests that he has poisoned them all so that there will be no witnesses and he will have committed the perfect crime. As he runs through the house to disable the phones and lock the doors, an evangelist from earlier returns, followed by the police, who disarm Wadsworth. Wadsworth then repeats the confession that he had given earlier to the guests, physically acting out each scene himself. When he arrives at the part about meeting Colonel Mustard at the door, he steps through the door, closes it, and locks it, leaving all the guests trapped inside. The police and guests escape through a window, while Wadsworth attempts to make a getaway in a police squad car, only to hear the growling of a German Shepherd from the backseat.

Screensaver Proposition And Beyond

by crazyskills on Jun.23, 2009, under question, stream of consciousness, tech

Here’s what I want to do: I want to have a screensaver which displays the spirit world. Sometimes it is just lights; sometimes they blink. Sometimes th lights have more definition to them. The lifeforce of people could be seen (hell - maybe even the life of the othert people in the office, club, or perhaps even my testchamber here in beautiful greenhills. It’s a step past a photograph of what is behind the display monitors used as a desktop image.. it is a viewport to the spirit world. Right now, I’m just thihnking about it - I haven’t been in this place for a good while, where I feel as though I am tapping the spirit world, but I am, partially through drugs (perscribed and taken appropriately) and mostly through my spiritual awakedness, and I’m in tune.

Everything from the return of the American muscle car to European exotics and luxury automobiles. Definitely worth a flipping through.

Sensitive Macho Man

by crazyskills on Jun.17, 2009, under stream of consciousness

I’m a manly man,
What kicks my ass is saying Goodbye.
It’s Mister Macho Man to you.
Sometimes I like a good cry.

I’ll pound any punk ass
within my reach,
then go for that romantic
walk on the beach.

I’m down with a rumble,
or a good bar fight,
right after dinner with you
over candlelight.

I’ll blow the crap out of a deer
in a stealthy hunt,
but baby, I need to feel loved -
if I may be so blunt.

Hold me,
while I kick this guy’s ass
Hug me,
while I score my touchdown pass.
Love me,
I’m a sensitive macho man.

I’d love a quiet picnic with you
right after the big game.
Your eyes are such a pretty blue,
It’s too bad I forgot your name.

You skin is so smooth
like a satin sheet,
but excuse me while I
bludgeon this here geek.

Hold me,
while I score my touchdown pass.
Hug me,
while I kick this guy’s ass.
Love me,
I’m a sensitive macho man.

Yes I like poetry.
You got a problem with that?
It’s just you and me and a blanket,
sleepless in Seattle tonight.

Hold me,
while I crush this beer can on my head.
Touch me,
or I’ll watch Baywatch instead.
Hug me,
I’m a sensitive macho man…

I’m a sensitive macho, macho man.
I’m a sensitive macho, macho man.
I’m so sensitive.
I’m so sensitive.

This song sounds like the Dave Matthews Band.
I admit it it’s true.
You tell anybody I wrote this song,
I’ll beat the crap
out of you.

What you lookin at?

HTML 5 Demo

by crazyskills on Jun.17, 2009, under tech

crazyskills.net/html5.php [crazyskills.net]

Please note you will need an HTML 5 compliant browser to see this page properly, and so far, none of the HTML 5 browsers have full support for all the tags, but it’s still pretty cool.

Screens Of Death

by crazyskills on Jun.16, 2009, under stream of consciousness, tech

Guru Meditation

There are some on here I hadn’t seen before.

Everyone knows the BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) on Windows. It usually means failing hardware or in the least a reload is needed.

I’ve also seen the Sad Mac, the “Bomb”, Guru Meditation (my personal fav, though it did have a tendency to piss me off regardless of its intrigue) and Red Screen Of Death on Windows development builds. Believe it or not, I have even seen the BSOD on GNU/Linux, though this is usually due to a misconfiguration and most often can be fixed fairly easily. But yeah, there are a few on here which were new to me.

My Black Cat Linux system here even has a nifty little screensaver on it that displays various Screens Of Death in a slideshow. Anyway, here’s the Wikipedia article on Screens Of Death [wikipedia.org]. An entertaining read for those of us with computers that work. :)

HTML 5

by crazyskills on Jun.16, 2009, under announcement, tech

Yeah, so what is it1, what browsers support it2, what good is it3 and when is it going to be the standard4?

1 HTML 5 is the next generation of the standardized hypertext markup language. This is the language that internet pages are written in (somewhat simplified.)

2 HTML 5 is currently supported by Firefox v3.5b99 and Safari 4.

3 It supports native embedding of richer media than HTML 4. For instance, HTML 5 supports the <video> tag. What this means is less (eventually no) reliance on 3rd party embedded applications such as Flash or Silverlight. HTML 5 also supports CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) version 3. A css file is what gives text and other parts of internet pages attributes such as color, underlining, paragraph formatting, and more.

4 When HTML 5 [w3.org]/ CSS 3 [w3.org] will actually be the standard is a tough question. It could take years, I suppose, though a draft has been available since January 2008 (W3C). The changes being added are going to make the internet better for everyone, arguably moreso than the transition from HTML 3 to HTML 4 did. (December 1997)

To sum up, there is a great deal of effort being put into these new technologies. The internet is moving further toward a rich multimedia experience and richer development environments as well. This is the direction the internet is going. It will really be something to watch this come to be, and as usual the crazyskills dev team will be making the most of the new technologies - bringing them to a browser near you. We’ll keep ya posted.

For a little demo of some of what is coming, check out www.dloh.org [dloh.org] if you are using an HTML 5 supported browser (listed above.) It’s pretty cool, but it is really a demo of the technical side of things and not everyone will be able to appreciate it. Another interesting site is this one [alistapart.com] which does not demo HTML 5 but delves into the changes and streamlining to code. It’s an older article (120407) but touches on a few of the new tags to be added to HTML 5.
