Linux and other geeky good times

Using GNU/Linux for everything except playing games and recording audio these days. It is fast and feature-rich. Running Black Cat Linux, a derivative of the Ubuntu strain. I’ve praised GNU/Linux for years, and used it off and on, but now that I have it running on my server (talked about the incredible performance boost there in another post) and also on my primary work system, I find that I can do almost everything in it (and then some.) I’d be using it for audio recording tooo, but no one has developed a driver yet which makes use of the breakout box of the best soundcard on the market. Good news though, Creative has open-sourced their drivers for the X-Fi line on linux. So it’s just a matter of time before someone puts together a driver package which takes advantage of the breakout box. At that point, Vista will be there for games and to test my work on the popular platform.
I’m not going to go into too much detail about why I think GNU/Linux is a better OS than anything Microsoft has put out there to date, or why it is that Microsoft is so prevolent in the market, but I will give a short teaser: Marketing. Over the years, Microsoft has proven to have the very best marketing on the planet for consumers, schools and businesses.
I would say the day were coming when people would have their eyes opened, but with Mac switching to a *n?x backbone in OSX, many would argue it is already here.
