Back Home Again
by crazyskills on Oct.14, 2008, under announcement
in Linux! This time, trying out a different flavor: Ubuntu. Dig it, mon. It’s gotten even easier to install, configure and use. And it is blazingly fast. It’s important to me to keep my skills sharp. I was a little iffy about setting up a dual-boot situation on my new machine, but everything went without a hitch, thanks in part to Vista’s Shrink Volume command. But the biggest deal for me is just how fast this is. I am running a 64-bit Ubuntu on a 64-bit quad-core processor with 8G of RAM and it leaves me wanting nothing more.
Don’t get me wrong. I love (yes you heard that right) Vista 64. It is a real improvement over previous M$ OSs and it is quite fast in its own right. They have different purposes. But I’ll tell ya. I will be using Vista for games, watching blu-ray dvds (haven’t found a blu-ray player for linux yet) and crazyskills development and using Ubuntu for everything else.
It feels good to be back.
