the world’s first open movie

by crazyskills on Jan.15, 2008, under announcement

Following the success of Elephants Dream, the Blender Foundation is developing a follow-on open movie called Peach, set for completion later this year. Computerworld has up an interesting interview with Matt Ebb, lead artist from Elephants Dream (the interview is split over 5 pages). Ebb talks about the making of the world’s first open movie and offers some advice to others wanting to start such a project. - Anonymous reader on /., 011508

In the year 2525

by crazyskills on Jan.10, 2008, under announcement

What if you are simply wanting to not drive or operate machinery?

I don’t like organisations which demand certain lifestyles be followed.  I think that the creation of yourself is important and will be defined by the things you do.  Interesting sidenote: I don’t make a point of remembering things I have done, in a resume’s sense.  Though you ought to know your resume.  Your potential employer is going to know theirs.

I used to like to manipulate time.  But the secret is: Don’t focus on self. Write about the world and your self will show through.

More about manipulating time:
It’s easy.  Never look at the clock.  Guess the time and guess it to be heavily earlier than it is.  Go through the process of ‘getting used to’ the idea of it being so early.  This is a serious productivity technique.  It goes something like this: Hmm.  It’s only 8:15.  Well, I have time to get things done now.  Meanwhile, time is progressing at a faster rate than usual.  The cool part is that you still get the things done that you set out to do - often even in a shorter overall time, and quittin time is approaching at an increased rate.

Used to.  I love my job.

Dear weatherbug

by crazyskills on Jan.08, 2008, under announcement

Quit with the spam already. This is rediculous. If I didn’t value your service, and therefore expected maybe a worthwhile email from you from time to time, I would have added you to my ignore list long ago. But perhaps today is a good day to die. Tant mieux. Goodbye weatherbug.

I had given up.  I figured there was no point.  There was no interest on your part.  But hey.  It’s the way things go sometimes.  And we’re better for it.  Just as long as we’re still on the same page.  You and me.

I feel as though it takes an awesome responsibility to have children.  And I am afraid I hold people to pretty high expectations.  Including myself.  Thus - no kids.  Makes you wonder though.  Seems to really work for some people.  No reason to think that I am not capable, I suppose.  Just one of those things.  Not sure if it’s for me.  I can’t imagine fitting raising a child into my schedule.  Though it does seem to be in the natural progression of things.  What if I turn out to be one of those dads that isn’t ever there?  That would be pretty shitty.  Better of not taking the risk.  What if, god forbid, my child turns out like me?  Or worse, if such a thing could be imagined.  Yeah.  That’s crazy talk.

Our cats think we’re the best thing that ever happened.

it doesn’t take long

by crazyskills on Jan.07, 2008, under announcement

in a way, nothing lasts. sickness comes and goes. So do weekends. So do work weeks and months. Time just keeps on going by. Nothing any of us can do to affect that. So perhaps time lasts. And if you play defender I could be your hyper space.
